Event Host – ISLA TRAQUAIR
Isla Traquair is a reporter and presenter for Channel 5 News.
Born in Aberdeen, in North East Scotland, Isla has had a thirst to get to the bottom of the story from an extremely young age. She began working at a press agency part time when she was still at school and got a front page on a national newspaper at the age of 15.
A year later Isla cut short her final year at school after she was selected from hundreds of entrants to take part on an in-house training scheme with a Scottish newspaper. She worked there for nearly five years - the final two as the paper's crime and court reporter.
In 2001 Isla became a presenter and reporter with STV. After six happy years combining studio work with getting her hands dirty out on the road, she went on to become a reporter and presenter with ITV News in November 2006.
Her interest in crime also led Isla into working on STV North and Central's most successful series Unsolved which looked into Scotland's most intriguing murder mysteries. Isla was a key member in all three series and wrote and produced the final series.
Outside of work Isla's passions include swimming, skiing, walking, cooking, gardening and golf. She also loves to travel and in 2005 took part in a gruelling jungle trek in Thailand to raise money for charity.
Isla also chairs conferences and seminars and is a highly skilled conference facilitator. She has a wealth of experience hosting events and award ceremonies, both at home and abroad.
